2008 Track season officially underway!

       A brand new year has arrived within the Central Section. An old sprint power will help lead the way yet again.
       Edison of Fresno, the only program in "The Valley" to grab a team plaque in both genders at the 2007 Central Section Championships, saw its sprinters work together to snare victories in 8 of the 10 relays contested (weight man's relay not included) to dominate the Clovis Sprint Carnival on Saturday.
       Edison's girls won the 4x100, 4x400, 8x200 and sprint medley events and picked up a third place in the 1600m medley to outdash their area rivals. For good measure, Brittney Williams won both the 100-meter high (16.3) and 300-meter low (50.07) hurdles for Edison, which placed third as a team at last year's section finals -- and just 6 1/2 points behind perennial power Stockdale.
       Edison's boys were as impressive over the weekend, winning the 4x100, 4x400, 8x200 and sprint medley relays and taking third place in the 1600m medley. Edison placed third in last year's Section Finals, one point out of second place.
